Mentor By Design is a bespoke outreach service for adults with additional needs and was founded in 2022. The pandemic gave us time to reflect on what we could do to improve the service we provide and how services should be run. As a result of the pandemic, we were working with smaller groups of students which allowed for a more personal interaction with each student. This is where we envisioned a strong passion for a bespoke outreach service.
We looked at the difficulties many people were facing during that period and realised for many young people with additional needs these issues were not just due to the pandemic; they were in fact the daily lives they were living.
At Mentor By Design we focus on ensuring every student gains the interpersonal, social and real life skills they need to effectively move forward in their lives, gain the vital skills needed for employment and reach their full potentials.
This is where I came up with the company “Mentor By Design”, a company for students with disabilities focusing on giving them more freedom of choice which allows for a more bespoke service.
We plan to help students by mentoring them on;
• Building friendships and relationships and maintaining them;
o Teaching empathy and care
o How to check in on people
• Basic living skills;
o Money Management
o Cooking
o Cleaning
• Promoting health and wellbeing;
o Exercise
o Self-care
o Eating habits
• Teaching individual life skills;
o Working towards employment
o Dealing with emergencies
o Speech
• Using technology (payments, computers, smartphones);
o Basic cyber security/stranger danger
• Encouraging new activities through multiple choice
• Encouraging self confidence in their choices
• Encouraging young people to find their own path, understand what makes them who they are and be proud of themselves.

Day rate includes full transportation & activities covered, please call for pricing.
Runs between 10am – 3:30/4pm or bespoke time depending on the outing)
Bespoke outings will be chosen to match students’ enjoyments and interests.
All staff are DBS checked and appropriately trained, also in first aid and food hygiene.
